First comes love, then comes tacos.

And we do LOVE tacos. As I have mentioned before, Jake and I can eat Mexican food any day of the week and never get tired of it. We usually have a weekly date night at our local favorite Mexican restaurant El Patron.

And to me, I don’t need a fancy date for Valentine’s Day. Just feed me tacos and I am the happiest girl in the world.

Which is why when I was thinking about V-Day recipes, I of course had to go a little fancy with these bacon-wrapped cacao crusted filet mignon and I also knew this Valentine’s Day needed tacos. BAD.

And these tacos are actually quite special to us.

I met Jake in a crowded cafeteria in our university. He was quick to sit down in front of me and begin conversation. I actually wasn’t looking for anyone and I really loved how engaged he was and that he seemed genuine. He started to brag about how he makes the BEST blackened tuna. I told him to prove it. And our first date was that Friday where he made me regular steaks instead because he couldn’t find good tuna steaks. 😀 Complete with a side of steamed corn and a baked potato. We sat in the community room and watched October Sky while we ate and talked forever like we already knew each other.

He did end up making tuna steaks down the road and he told the truth! These steaks were the best!

And after 9 years, I guess you could say things are pretty serious.

I decided to take Jake’s Blackened Tuna and transform it into our other favorite-tacos!

Complete with a side of spicy avocado mango slaw.

The smokiness of the tuna with the bright spicy/sweetness of the slaw makes this a taco that will impress your SO this Valentine’s Day.

Cheers!

And Jake, I may or may not be in a side relationship with these tacos. JK

I used corn tortillas here but you can use whatever you like! Lettuce Wraps, thinly sliced jicama, or put it on a bed of greens!
