    Red, White, and Blue Smoothie

    photo 1

This 4th of July we should all reflect upon the strength and foresight
of our Founding Fathers.  The following passage from Thomas Paine's
The American Crisis provides insight into the challenges faced around
    July 4th, 1776.

"These are the times that try men's souls. The summer solider and the
sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of
their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks
of man and woman.  Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we
have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more
glorious the triumph.  What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too
lightly: it is dearness only that gives everything it's value.  Heaven
knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be
strange if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly
    rated."  -The Crisis No. 1

All the while keeping what the meaning of this holiday is truly about in our hearts today, celebrate it. Celebrate what our Founding Father's did for us, paving the road to the American Dreams. Celebrate today, whether it be with friends or family and be safe!

This smoothie is packed full of flavor! I originally intended this recipe to be a layered smoothie but it ended up being layered in flavor! I hope you make this as a treat this Independence Day as it will be a cooling relief to the hot weather and your friends and family will love you for it!

Red,White, and Blue Smoothie : makes 2 32 oz smoothies ( double or downsize to fit your needs)

    You Need:

    Blue Portion:

    1 cup of ice water

    ¾ blackberries

    1 tbs honey

    ⅓ cup of fresh basil

    ½ cup ice

1 can of unsweetened coconut water

    1 frozen banana

    1 teaspoon vanilla

    ½ cup ice

    Red Portion:

    1 cup ice water

    ¾ cup raspberries

    2 packets of sweetener

    ½ a lime peeled

    ½ cup ice

    Directions:

Thank you Renee! It was quite good! I especially favored the blackberry layer above the others 🙂

Thank you Martha! I also think the layers would make great smoothies on their own too!
