    Whole30 Week 1

    Hey guys!

I apologize for being AWOL the past week! It has been CRAZY busy!

We still are doing Crossfit 3-4 times a week and I have been deeply contemplating starting a Paleo lifestyle. I have some stubborn areas I want to get rid of and frankly, I just want it gone. I have been hovering around the idea for some time now and after LOTS of research I took the plunge.

Not only will this benefit my overall health, but I really want to see how my performance improves at Crossfit and running! Especially with the Marine Corps 10k we are registered for! 🙂

After reading Stupid Easy Paleo's intro to the Paleo lifestlye, she highly reccomended that for someone new ( like me) they should start with a strict 30 day program to acclimate and basically do a cleanse for your body. So I ventured forth and decided to do the Whole30 program!

Click here to learn more about the rules for this program here:

But to summarize, I get to eat REAL food. Lots of lean protein ( poultry, beef, pork, fish), tons of fresh and seasonal veggies, some fruit, and plenty of healthy fats ( avocado, olives, nuts, and coconut oil).

However for 30 days I can not have: Legumes ( beans, soy, peanuts), no added sugar ( splenda, any sugar added to ANYTHING...so I have come to realize that there is an unnecessary amount of sugar in EVERYTHING!!!Read your labels!), grains, dairy, alcohol, and I can not recreate paleo goodies like pancakes, bread, etc.

With that said, it has not been that difficult!

    AND WEEK 1 is DONE!!!

I am on Day 8 and I feel great!

I have had delicious meals all week that are all Whole30 compliant!

Such as Grilled Chicken salads, Spinach Egg Nests ( will blog this one), Lettuce chicken tacos with spicy sweet potato fries, and if you would like to see more of my meals check out my Instagram page where I tend to post a lot more 🙂

    Impressions:

The first few days I felt some fatigue and had head aches. But something clicked Day 5 and I had more energy and no longer felt hungry between meals. My performance in Crossfit this week started off bleh but finished on a higher note because I finished my WOD strong with energy for more! I will update you next week to let you in on my impressions of Week 2!
